History and Affiliations
Founded in 1994 !
Humble Beginnings
In June of 1994 the group was founded as the Downers Grove Red Riders,
as a Honda Riders Club of America (HRCA) Chapter affiliated
with Downers Grove Honda, Downers Grove Illinois.
We spent three years with DGH, as the group grew a "core personality" began
to emerge and distance the group from the average HRCA chapter.
The Next Phase
In February 1997 the group decided to accept a sponsorship package
from DesPlaines Honda, DesPlaines Illinois.
They accepted the now multi-brand group, it's riding style,
leadership, membership and rules as-was and NITRO was formed.
We enjoyed sponsorship from DSPH as an HRCA chapter a total of three years.
In February of 2000 the group still diverging from the "HRCA ideal" as a more
Sporting-focused group chose to resign its affiliations with the HRCA
and strike out on it's own as an independent club.
Going Independent
We began our eighth season as a group in April 2001 with no sponsorships,
or affiliations... or the restrictions that come along with them.
Things are going great and now the club is more active and focused than ever !
We will continue to seek our own path to the future.....................
